Our teams are continuing to deliver strategic, future focussed projects in partnership, across the region. Here are some of our current projects informed by what businesses tell us they need to innovate and grow. Together, they give an exciting look into the future at how we will work do business in our region.

  1. Every high school student connected to business

    Our Careers Hub ranks as one of the best performing in England and connects every high school in the region to businesses through Enterprise Advisors. These fantastic volunteers from the business community support young people, helping to raise their aspirations and excite them about their future careers choices.

  2. Digital skills in a digital world

    Starting soon in 2022 is the £2m Skills Bootcamps programme – part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, helping everyone gain skills for life. The programme covers a range of skills training including digital, manufacturing and green skills. Businesses can innovate and grow sustainably by engaging with the latest digital technologies. Having digital skills  within the workforce is essentail to keep pace in a fast moving world.

  3. Getting connected across the region's towns

    Our Getting Building Fund allocation of £15.4m, awarded in 2020, has successfully completed, with some significant projects that deliver locally across the region. One example is the town centre WI-FI roll out in 18 of the region’s towns, which we have been delighted to support with over £3.5m.

  4. Carbon negative energy generation

    Cross sector partnership working has led the LEP team to develop a significant strategic document that will show how our region can meet the unique opportunity it has to grow our economy whilst reducing our carbon footprint. These strategic insights have secured funding from the Community Renewal Fund for the project that will produce a suite of Local Area Energy Plans , to identify long-term strategic approaches to carbon negative energy systems and innovate solutions to local decarbonisation challenges. Carbon negative energy generation can reduce the cost of energy and put money back into businesses and households.
